Daphne

We recently received a lovely email from Daphne’s new family. Enjoy!
– A.D.O.P.T.

Daphne came to live with us on July 1st of last year.  Missy did wonders for her and we have continued to work with her on a daily basis.  When she came to us, she still had some issues due to the horrible things that happened to her in the past.  I would like to give you an update.
Daphne has learned to walk on a leash.  She no longer barks at every dog and person she sees (we’re still working on some barking but it’s tons better).  She loves to play with her squeaky toys and play chase in the backyard.  Daph holds her head up and is confident.
I have attached a couple of pictures that I thought you would love to see.  Thanks for all you do to save dogs and place them in loving homes.  We are so thankful for Daphne

Here is Pepper (formerly Kelly) in her new home. She’s been here about a month now and has come out of her shell, put on weight, and has a family that loves her! Just look at the smile on her face! 🙂

Emmy

[singlepic id=1237 w=320 h=240 float=center]

We recently adopted Emmy, the five month old basset hound/”yellow dog” mix, from your shelter, and we wanted to let you know how well she is doing!

Now that she has adjusted, she is doing very well (although she was doing pretty well to begin with and Kira said she fit right in as soon as she came to our house!)  She’s had natural puppy behaviors, which is why on Sunday, she’ll start puppy kindergarden at Petsmart so we can learn how to be the best parents possible.  It took a few weeks, but we are slowly getting her potty trained, and she hasn’t had any accidents in the house in two days!  She has really enjoyed playing with our other puppy, Patch, a two year old border collie/beagle mix, and he’s slowly adjusting to having a new little puppy in the house.  She has gotten big enough to jump onto the couch and our bed, so she’s been doing a lot of sleeping/relaxing on those places. 🙂  She got her stitches out from getting fixed the Friday after we got her and the vet said she looks great.  I don’t know how she ended up at your shelter, but she has a forever home now and I’m pretty sure she’s very happy with us. 🙂

We want to let you know that we truly appreciate all you do for the animals at your shelter!  We couldn’t be happier with our choice of bringing Emmy into our home! Thanks again for all you do!

Iggy

Congratulations to Iggy – he has been accepted into the Pilot Dogs program here in Columbus!  We are so excited for Iggy and this wonderful new opportunity – and life – that he has been given! 🙂

Kiki (formerly Laney)

[singlepic id=1111 w=320 h=240 float=center]

I just wanted to write and let you both know how much we love Laney. She is doing amazingly well. The first night we took her for a walk, she was a nervous nelly and jumped at cars, sirens, and driveways! But within 24 hours, she was much braver and calmer. Most of the weekend she just sat in our laps and cuddled, but we also took lots of long walks. By Tuesday, she had transformed from a shy and nervous girl into a bouncy and joyous puppy. She is such good girl: so well-behaved, such a good listener, and such a sweet cuddle bug. We decided to call her Kiki and she knows her name, is learning to sit and to come. She is great with people (including little children) and other dogs. In short, we think she is absolutely perfect and want to thank you so much for rescuing her and allowing her to become part of our family. We LOVE her.

I cannot thank you enough for allowing her to be part of our family. She is making us all so happy . . . and she is so loving and joyful.

Ginger

Update on Ginger…she is AWESOME!  We could not be more pleased with her – almost surreal about how well behaved she is.  Over the last few days, we have tried to get her acclimated to our lives, friends and neighbors.  She took her first trip to Petsmart on Saturday- and got so much attention.  She then went to our neighborhood Octoberfest Saturday night – there were 30-40 people there and she was loved by all – people were amazed at how good she was.  She got her first bath today – cant say that she loved that but she withstood it and now smells awesome and is so soft.  She is also very sneaky at night 🙂 – we have a bed for her on the floor but she will sneak into our bed during the night – but how can we refuse that face?!   We have left her alone with free roam of the house for short periods of time and she does not touch a thing.

…She is getting lots and lots of attention, love and good care!  Thank you for what you guys do – we are very grateful that there are places and people like you that care so much for animals!

Leo (formerly Asher)

[singlepic id=1071 w=320 h=240 float=center]

Thought you might enjoy a recent photo of Leo. He is now 30 pounds and has all of his adult teeth.  His coat has thickened quite a bit – even in the hot weather.  He is a typical adolescent into everything and quick to
disobey.
Once we see our days past these couple of months he will be perfect. He loves everyone and has had fun at the local dog parks and playing with neighbors dogs as well.
