Roo

ADOPT received the following update on Roo.  We hope you enjoy it!

Roo is absolutely amazing! We decided to keep her name since it fits her VERY well (she bounces around our yard like a kangaroo when we play 🙂 ). We took her to the pet store today and there was an unusual number of dogs and people there and she was great, one of the best behaved dogs in the store! She likes the car too, just sits quietly and looks out the window.
She’s still learning on the leader but getting better. She’s a super fast learner. She likes to chase the cats but is getting better with that as well. Luckily they have a place to go when they want to get away.

Honestly she’s better than we could have imagined, and we’re both in love. Having never had a dog before we were both a little nervous, but now we wonder why we didn’t get one sooner.
Thank you sooo much for all that you do! We’ve been recommending adoption to everyone and especially praising the Prison Program.

Below are a couple of photos of Roo dog.

Ginger

ADOPT received the following update on Ginger.  We hope you enjoy it!

Just wanted to share Ginger’s progression. She is an energetic 35 pounds! Her and Cam still play and nap together. She also got to meet my parents Dalmatian “Gizmo”…and they got along GREAT. She has lost her puppy teeth and now has her big girl teeth that she uses on almost everything! (LOL!) She is mindful of corrections and is still learning manners, she also is our watch dog and will bark at passers-by. 🙂 We are still so happy to have her in our family. 🙂

Chloe (formerly Iris)

ADOPT received the following update on Chloe (formerly Iris).  We hope you enjoy it!

We just want to say thanks again for all of your help in our adoption of Chloe. We’ve had her about 3 weeks now, and she is definitely settled into our family. Chloe is still quiet, friendly and playful. The care and training she received in your program are so evident in her trusting nature and good behavior. She is very attached to Bob and me, and she is happy visiting with our 3 and 5 year old grandchildren. I think Chloe would agree that you helped us find the right fit. Here are a couple of photos of Chloe – content in her new home.

Libby

ADOPT received the following update on Libby – we hope you enjoy it!

It has been almost five weeks since Libby became a part of our family, and she is doing really well! The first few weeks were tough, but not terrible. She and Simon had three fights, but they seemed to have worked it all out and are now getting along great. Libby is much more playful than Simon, but they seem to have worked out a system she knows when he wants to play and when he doesn’t. All the exercise is good for him and he is losing a few pounds (which he needed to do).

They each have their own positive and less-than-positive behaviors, but I’m happy to say that the good behaviors seem to be rubbing off on each other. For instance, Libby is great about going to the bathroom right away when we take her out, whereas Simon used to take a lot of time finding the perfect spot, which drove me crazy! Now, they both go right away which is helpful if I’m short on time. If I’m not rushed, then we just enjoy the rest of the walk! Libby barks like crazy at cars, but since Simon doesn’t, she seems to be learning that they aren’t a threat and she doesn’t have to go nuts every time one passes!

So all and all we are very pleased. I’ve attached two pictures. The first is of Simon and Libby in the chair in my office that has always been Simon’s reserved spot. They share it from time to time, which is great! The second is our daughter holding Libby. Simon has never been thrilled about being held, even though the kids always want to. But Libby seems to like it, so she gets lots of attention from the kids!

Just wanted to let you know that all is good here!

Shalom (formerly Rio)

ADOPT received the following update on Shalom (formerly Rio). We hope you enjoy it!

Rio has a new name – Shalom – he is my peace from God.  We took him to PetSmart today to pick up a few puppy things – he did great – very social with people as well as other puppies.  We did not crate him last night – he slept in bed with us – so snuggly!  So glad you were able to bring him into our lives!  He is such a good boy!  No trouble with the kittens – the younger kittens seem totally okay with Shalom being here – the five-year old is not happy, but he will deal!  The grand dame Moana is withholding any emotion at this time.  We’ll know in a few days where she stands!
A few pictures – I’m the proud Mama!  The first is Shalom “cat shopping” at PetSmart, Second is Shalom on his “blankie” in my office.  Third Picture – Rio in his bed – I think he’s comfortable here in his forever home.  I know we certainly are!  One small potty accident, but no big deal – to be expected at this stage!
Thanks again and God Bless you for the work you do!
I’ve been singing your praises on FaceBook!  Hope it garners some more adopters for you!
Shalom my friend!

Birdie

ADOPT received the following update on Birdie. We hope you enjoy it!

Just wanted to let you know that Birdie is doing fine. She has been sleeping out of her kennel and is quite the bed hog. She still uses her kennel when we’re not home and does very well. She and our “granddog” Macy get along marvelously – maybe too much so! They both sleep for days after a weekend together. As you can see from the attached photo, they look like sisters. We call Birdie “mini me” when Macy is around. It’s still hard to get a good photo of her – she moves too fast!

Thanks for bringing her into our lives.
