Apollo Update

We wanted to provide everyone with an update on Apollo, our little pup with Parvo. He went to My Vet Sunday (March 2) night and began treatment after he tested positive. He also has intestinal parasites which have been addressed but he’s pretty run down. Both Drs Bishop are cautiously optimistic that he can pull through this. His improvement is slow, but it is improvement none-the-less.

Here’s where things stand with his medical costs:

Total medical costs for Sunday night through tonight (Weds) $565.00
We’ve received $458.00 in donations.

We’d really like to help this guy pull through and fight off this nasty illness.

Can you help us pay for his medical treatment by making a donation

This beautiful 10 week old boy has Parvo. For those who don’t know, Parvovirus is a devastating illness for puppies. It is expensive and takes time to treat. He was thrown away once before and we refuse to “not care” for him now. We do care. Please help us get Apollo through this nasty illness.

Consider making a donation. Include a note in your donation that you are donating to help with Apollo’s treatment. Thank you!

Daisy

Daisy

Daisy is the only surviving puppy from a litter of 10. She and her mom (Peach) came to us from a hoarding/neglect case and none of her brothers or sisters survived the freezing conditions that they were kept in outside. She is currently in a foster home receiving the care she desperately needed. Daisy will be ready for her forever home after February 9th, when she is old enough to leave her mom. She will be a small sized terrier mix. Because of her young age, this lovely girl will be available in the Columbus area only. Please fill out our online form if you’€™d like to meet Daisy.
DOB: December 2013
Weight: 5 lbs (not full grown)

December Volunteer Opportunities!

Happy Thanksgiving! In the spirit of giving thanks, we would like to say THANK YOU to all of our volunteers for their help and commitment to our organization!!  We also have two upcoming opportunities available where you can give some of your time to help A.D.O.P.T.!

Opportunity #1: Holiday/Santa Pet Pictures
A.D.O.P.T. will be doing Holiday/Santa Pet Pictures on December 7th and 8th at Noah’s Too Pet Resort (5564 N Hamilton Road in Gahanna).  We need volunteers to help both days! On Saturday we are looking for volunteers to help at the 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM shift and at the 12:30 PM -3:00 PM shift; on Sunday we are looking for volunteers from 11:00 AM – 1:30 PM and from 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM. We need volunteers to help with the following jobs:

  • Photographer (with camera)
  • Two elves to hold dogs
  • Santa
  • Two people printing pictures
  • One person at the Jewelry table

If you are able to volunteer for either or both days, please let Joy ([email protected]) know by sending your name, preferred shift time, and phone number.

This year we will also be selling jewelry, so while people are waiting in line to take their pet picture with Santa, they can also holiday shop!  Additionally,if you make anything that you think would also be great to sell as part of our fundraiser – and are willing to give the proceeds to A.D.O.P.T. Pet Rescue – please contact Joy about that!

If you are unable to volunteer, but may be able to stop by with your pet, we encourage you come and have their picture taken with Santa! It makes a great holiday card to send out to family and friends! Please also pass along this event to other family and friends that might be interested!

All proceeds from Santa Pics and jewelry sales will go to A.D.O.P.T. Pet Rescue and to helping all of the adorable animals we bring in throughout the year!

Opportunity #2: PetSmart Food Pick-up
The second volunteer opportunity in December is the last food pick-up from PetSmart Warehouse for 2013.  This will take place on December 11th at 12:30 PM.  Volunteers will meet at the A.D.O.P.T. Pet Rescue storage unit to help an A.D.O.P.T. Board Member organize and clean out our unit. You will then all carpool together to the PetSmart Warehouse between 1:30 and 1:45 PM (remember to take an ID for entrance to the warehouse) then help load and unload food there and then back at the A.D.O.P.T Pet Rescue storage unit.
If you are interested in help out at this last food pick-up of the year, please contact Joy and include your name and phone number.

Thank you all again for your help so far this year, and enjoy this holiday season!!
