Adopted – Congrats!

Lola

Lola

Lola is a 3 month old Lab mix, who is currently about 20 lbs. Lola LOVES to snuggle and give kisses. She likes making new friends and she is so friendly with everyone. Lola hops up the stairs with both front paws at a time and will follow you everywhere around your house. She just wants to be loved! Lola loves her daily walks, but she also loves to sleep – just like a typical puppy. Chewing on her toys or a rawhide is her favorite thing to do. She also likes to go in the car because it means she is going somewhere new! She is still working on her leash etiquette, as she is still a puppy and needs to learn her manners.

Lola is a little timid, and sometimes she is easily frightened by a loud noise or large vehicles. She is getting better every day, but she needs to continue to be exposed to new people, new animals and new experiences. She is fearful of some large dogs initially, but warms up quickly. She has not been exposed to cats. Like any pup, she should be exposed to any new fur-siblings before adoption.

Lola stays in her crate when her foster mom is not home and when sleeping at night. She normally needs a treat as incentive to go into her crate, but quiets down and is getting used to it. Lola is also working on her house-training, but she is still a puppy! She has come a long way in a short time with her foster mom. She has fallen into her routine quickly, and rarely has accidents anymore.

Lola is a typical wiggly, loving puppy. Puppies are a lot of work, and like all puppies, she still needs training and socializing. Lola learns quickly, so she will be a great pup after some training and socializing. She is definitely a couch potato and usually calm, but can be full of energy after a nap. Lola is such a happy, snuggly, playful, and loving dog – she will be great with any family that is the same.

Carlos

Carlos

Carlos is a 1-2 year old chihuahua mix that we rescued from a high-kill shelter and is in foster.

Oftentimes one of Carlos’ ears will be folded down while the other is up. Carlos is very loving and loves to follow his people everywhere they go. He prefers to be in the same room if not closer to them. He is pretty quiet and only barked once since his foster mom has had him! Carlos likes to go on walks, nap, cuddle, and get plenty of pets. He also likes to eat chicken jerky.

Carlos has not had much socialization, so he is still nervous around other dogs and occasionally growls at them if he feels threatened. As always, we suggest he meet any fur-brothers or sisters prior to adoption. Carlos has not been exposed to cats.

Carlos will stay inside his crate if you put him inside and does not make any noise. Carlos is housebroken and has not had any accidents so far. He will go near the front door when he needs to go outside, although he prefers to go to the bathroom during walks. Speaking of walks – Carlos behaves very well on a leash! He does not really pull unless he sees a squirrel, but doesn’t pull for long. He will stop intermittently during walks when something scares him, but he will continue with some encouragement.

Carlos loves to meet new people, but will be timid meeting new people in the beginning. He quickly warms up though and is ready for cuddles! Carlos will thrive in a home where he can get plenty of love, attention, and pets.

Jasper

Jasper

Breed: Shiba Inu mix
Sex: Male
Estimated birthdate: July 2019
Size: Medium, ~ 45 lbs
Good with kids: most children, yes
Good with cats: unknown
Housebroken: yes
General information: Jasper is a very sweet, affectionate dog – and that face! His foster dad says he is a “Velcro Dog” and just wants to be where you are! Jasper probably didn’t have the best start to his life, but he’s not letting that get him down. He is not sure what to do with toys yet, so he’s just learning how to play. He is good with kids, but leery of small boys, so he would do best in a home with small girls or older children. Jasper does not like his crate, but he does just fine left out in his foster house. He is a very sweet boy and does great during car rides too! Jasper is ready to be your furever adventure companion, could that be with you?

Rex

Rex

Breed: Catahoula Leopard Dog mix
Sex: Male neutered
Estimated birthdate: May 2018
Size: M, 43 lbs
Good with cats: will chase
Good with kids: unknown
Housebroken: usually signals at door
General information: Rex has crazy beautiful markings that can’t be adequately shown in photos. He’s stunning! He’s been with our rescue since February when he first arrived and joined the canine-inmate program. We felt that the environment might be a little stressful for him and decided to put him in a foster home…but then the world closed down. Recently we were finally able to move Rex into a foster and he has done wonderfully. He has come out of his shell, LOVES to be outside, loves to chase toys and will bring them back (mostly so that you can throw it again…and again…and again.) He is great on a leash, doesn’t pull, and loves his daily walks. He can be somewhat reserved when meeting new people but will warm up once he’s comfortable. He likes other dogs, will chase the resident cat, and is what we like to call a “velcro dog.” Wherever you are, he wants to be. Rex is also a sensitive soul and would do well in an environment where he had humans to interact with throughout the day. He needs daily outdoor play time and walks in order to stay happy and healthy. If you think you’d be a good match for Rex, please fill out an online application.

Emmie

Emmie

Breed: Mixed, unknown
Sex: Female
Estimated birthdate: Jan 2020
Size: EST M/L full grown. 50+ lbs
Good with cats: unknown
Good with kids: unknown
Housebroken: in training
General information: Emmie was found by a good samaritan after she had been abandoned with a littermate. Her sister was adopted and Emmie joined our rescue! She is an energetic puppy who will play for hours and then cuddle up to watch TV. She loves chewing ice cubes and snuggling with her canine foster sister. She is sometimes unsure of new people or things but warms up quickly once she knows she’s safe. She’s learning how to walk on a leash and is crate trained. Emmie loves her toys and thrives on positive attention. Since she is still a youngster, she would do best in an environment where she can continue to get ongoing socialization and interaction with others.
Emmie is available for adoption in Columbus and immediate vicinity since she will need her boosters and spay surgery with one of our local veterinarians.

Cora

Cora

Breed: Mixed, Shepherd/Hound
Sex: Female, spay surgery pending
Estimated birthdate: Sept 2018
Size: L, 50+ lbs
Good with kids: unknown
Good with cats: unknown
Housebroken: yes
General information: Cora is a beautiful girl who arrived from a rural southern kill shelter. She was temporarily fostered with elementary aged kids and did great. She is now in a foster home with a large male dog and seems to like other dogs in general. She is laid back for her age and genuinely just likes the company of people. Her foster mom says she hasn’t quite figured out what to do with toys but is curious about them. She hangs out while her foster parents work from home and is really chill. She’s polite about taking treats and food. Leash skills are still a work in progress but she’s smart and a fast learner. She’s been out and about during the day, settles down in her crate but isn’t a huge fan of being in there. Cora would thrive in a home where she had plenty of human or canine company.

Arlo

Arlo

Breed: Beagle mix
Sex: Male neutered
Estimated birthdate: April 2018
Size: M, approx 30 lbs
Good with kids: unknown
Good with cats: yes
Housebroken: yes
General information: Sweet Arlo is happily quarantining with his foster family, including their resident cats. His foster mom says he is very cuddly, rarely barks (not a fan of being in the crate though) and very loyal with those he trusts. He loves going on walks and then settling in for the evening. He plays nicely with toys, ignores the household cats, and when he’s happy he “prances” with his tail wagging! Arlo is still reserved with new people and warms up once he gets to know you. He would be a wonderful family companion or a faithful friend for “empty nesters.” He genuinely just likes to be with people. Since he has such a skilled sniffer, he’d do well in a home that will take him on walks or provide him with adequate outdoor time (ie fenced yard.)

Tori

Tori

**Adoption currently on hold as we are unable to schedule meet & greet appointments with the recommendations from the CDC to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.**

Breed: German Shepherd mix
Sex: Female spayed
Estimated birthdate: July 2019
Size: L, approx. 60+ lbs full grown (ESTIMATE only)
Good with cats: unknown
Good with kids: unknown
Housebroken: in progress
General information: Those big Sheppie ears (are those awesome or what?) and gorgeous eyes are all part of Tori’s beauty. She’s slightly underweight right now but we’ll take care of that in no time! She has just joined our rescue so we are still getting to know her. So far she’s been very affectionate, playful, intelligent, and curious. Tori will start learning her basic commands through positive reinforcement methods in our canine-inmate program. Because she is a young, bright, working dog breed mix she will do best in an environment where she will have an outlet for her puppy energy and intelligent mind!

Mallard

Mallard

**We are currently unable to schedule meet & greet appointments or do home visits in accordance with the recommendations from the CDC to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.**

Breed: Pointer/Spaniel/Mix
Sex: Male neutered
Estimated birthdate: January 2017
Size: M/L est. 55 lbs
Good with cats: unknown
Good with kids: unknown
General information: Looking for someone to play ball? Here’s your guy! Mallard is an awesome dog and we haven’t got the slightest idea why he hasn’t been snatched up yet. He knows his basic commands, doesn’t beg, waits to be invited up onto the furniture, is quiet in his crate and is housebroken. He’s not a “velcro” dog but he is affectionate and loves to curl up nearby. He is also able to entertain himself with toys (he LOVES toys!) Rope toys, stuffed animals and balls are his very favorite…not a fan of squeak toys but everything else is big fun. Mallard still likes to weave while leash walking, but that’s because there’s soooo much to see and smell! He really loves being outdoors and would do best with a fenced yard or with someone who will take him on daily walks. Mallard has been in our canine-inmate program but has spent time in a foster home too. He’s a well rounded boy who will be a great companion for someone looking for a family dog or a partner to have adventures with.

Charlie

Charlie

**We are currently unable to schedule meet & greet appointments or do home visits in accordance with the recommendations from the CDC to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.**

Breed: German Shepherd mix
Sex: Male neutered
Estimated birthdate: March 2017
Size: L, 73 lbs
Good with kids: yes, 8+ due to Charlie being a large dog
Good with cats: unknown
Housebroken: in progress
General information: Charlie is a stunning German Shepherd mix with the most beautiful amber eyes. He came to us after having been found with his sister fending for themselves. Despite his start in life, Charlie loves everyone he meets. He likes kids, likes to play with other dogs and is a HUGE cuddle bug. He adores his toys and may occasionally steal your socks…but he will barter a trade if you give him a toy! Charlie is good in his crate and is very treat motivated which makes him easy to train. He is not yet completely housetrained (after having spent much of his life outdoors) but has made great progress and is always eager to learn new things. Charlie will need to have someone who understands this intelligent breed and who continues to provide ongoing positive lessons. He loves his daily walks and is a true joy to be with.
