Levi

Levi

Breed: Beagle/Catahoula Leopard Dog mix
Sex: Male, neutered
Estimated Birthdate: 6/1/2015
Size: Large. He currently weighs 65 pounds but needs to be closer to 50 pounds
Good With Kids: No
Good With Cats: No
Good With Dogs: No
Housetrained: Yes
Crate Trained: Yes

Recommended Environment: Levi just wants to be loved. He is very affectionate and likes to be with his people. He will howl a little in his crate when he gets lonely so apartment life is not for him. He loves going on walks and needs a walking buddy to help him shed those unwanted pounds. He likes to go to the dog park and play with other dogs.

Additional Information: Levi was adopted from us in June 2018. Levi’s world was turned upside down when his humans added a baby to the home. His family no longer had enough time for him so they returned him to us. This very smart boy knows a number of commands, including-sit, down, jump up, paw. He walks really well on a leash and loves going on car rides.

Mick

Mick

Breed: Red Heeler mix
Breed Information: Also known as Australian Cattle Dogs, Heelers have immense work drive and excel at hunting, chasing, and, of course, moving livestock. Their boundless energy and supple gait make them excellent running partners. They are true-blue loyal, famously smart, ever alert, and wary of strangers. If a Heeler isn’t challenged, he easily becomes bored and gets into mischief. It is recommended that Heeler owners participate with their dog in some work, sport, or regular exercise to keep him mentally and physically fit.
Sex: Male, neutered
Estimated Birth Date: June 2020
Size: Medium. He is 29 pounds now but will grow some more. We guess that he will be less than 40 pounds
Good With Kids: Yes, but older children would be best
Good With Cats: Ok, but he wants to chase them. True to his breed!
Good With Dogs: Yes, but he does play a little rough
Housetrained: Almost
Crate Trained: Yes

Recommended Environment: Mick requires an experienced dog owner. He is incredibly intelligent, driven, and deaf. He needs to be in a home where he gets plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. Deaf dogs are very trainable using positive reinforcement and hand signals. His new family will have to be patient and consistent with him. Due to his energy level, he is probably best not with small children. Having a runner in the family would be ideal! It will be helpful to have a fenced in yard so that he can run and chase balls to his heart’s content.

Additional Information: Mick’s favorite thing in the world is a tennis ball. As long as he sees a tennis ball in your hand, he will bring back the tennis ball you just threw for him. He’s better than most Retrievers!

BeBe

BeBe
Breed: Rat Terrier mix
Sex: Female
Estimated Birth Date: 4/1/2011.  Life expectancy for her breed is 16-19 years
Size: Small.  She weighs 21
Good With Kids: Yes
Good With Cats: Yes
Good With Dogs: Yes
Housetrained: Yes
Crate Trained: Yes
Recommended Environment: BeBe loves having a yard to explore so a person willing to take multiple walks during the day or someone with a fenced in yard would be preferred.  She is very calm and easy going so she will fit in most anywhere.  She is a very sensitive and intuitive girl and seems to know you’re thinking about giving her a treat before you even grab the bag!
Additional Information: Bebe was tested for heartworm when we rescued her and she did test positive Luckily we caught the heartworm early and were able to treat it.  BeBe is pretty calm and laid back.  As is not uncommon for a Rat Terrier, BeBe has patellar luxation.  You’ve probably heard of a “trick knee” before.  It doesn’t seem to bother her and many small dogs live their entire life having it without it interfering with their activities.  She will not be a running companion but probably wouldn’t have been one if her knee was fine!  She doesn’t doesn’t like to be picked up but loves to snuggle with you.  BeBe will be a loving and faithful companion.

Cocoa

Cocoa

Breed: Chocolate Lab mix
Sex: Female, still needs her spay surgery
Estimated Birth Date: 4/1/2020
Size: Small, about 25 pounds
Good With Kids: Yes
Good With Cats: Yes
Good With Dogs: Yes
Housetrained: Yes
Crate Trained: Unknown. Her foster left her out of the crate on several occasions and she wasn’t destructive

Recommended Environment: Cocoa is a little timid at first so her new family must be patient with her when she sees new things. She will require several good long walks during the day. A runner in the family would be great for her! She would enjoy having a dog or child playmate.

Additional Information: Cocoa is faster than a speeding bullet and able to leap 4 foot fences in a single bound. No, she’s not Superman but she could be! She cannot be left unattended in a yard, even if it is fenced in. She is good on a leash and loves everyone she meets, though sometimes it takes her a few minutes to warm up to new people. She is a very loving and loyal dog. Cocoa loves her sleep. She likes to go to bed around 9:30, with or without her person and will happily wait in their bed for them to come snuggle with her. She doesn’t like getting in the car but is fine going on rides once she is on board.

In a Foster Home.
Adoptions are restricted to a 30 mile radius of Columbus so we can complete her vaccinations and spay surgery with our vets

Trapper

Trapper

Breed: Beagle
Sex: Male, neutered
Estimated Birth Date: 9/15/2019
Size: Medium, 25 pounds
Good With Kids: Unknown but we don’t feel it will be an issue
Good With Cats: Unknown
Good With Dogs: Yes, he is always looking for a new friend
Housetrained: Yes, he will alert when he needs to go out
Crate Trained: Yes, he goes willingly but doesn’t love it

Recommended Environment: True to his breed, Trapper likes to follow his nose. He loves going on walks and smelling everything! Beagles are very intelligent and require a fair amount of activity. We are not requiring a fenced in yard but he would love one. He would do well with a canine companion in the home.

Additional Information: Trapper likes attention and snuggling but he is also fine entertaining himself. A variety of toys that are changed out often would be a good idea. He is working on his leash manners but quickly forgets them when he sees a potential playmate. He is relatively calm, very sweet and well-behaved.

Milo

Milo

Breed: Beagle Mix
Sex: Male
Estimated Birth Date: December 2020
Size: 17 pounds (may be around 45 pounds full grown)
Good With Kids: Yes, but he is a puppy and is learning to not play too rough
Good With Other Dogs: Yes
Good With Cats: Unknown
Housetrained: In process but making great progress
Crate Trained: Almost! He needs to be encouraged to get in his crate; treats work well. He will bark for a few minutes when placed in it at night but settles down and sleeps through the night.

Recommended Environment: Milo gets very attached to his people and will follow them everywhere. He would prefer not to be left alone for long periods of time, especially since he is still young and working on his potty training. He is an energetic puppy that loves having kids or another dog to play with. Beagles are very intelligent so activity is important. Be prepared to go on lots of walks but there will be many pit stops as he has to smell everything!

Additional Information: Milo is learning to walk on a leash and will need training of basic commands. He is entertaining to watch when he plays; he makes funny noises and bunny hops when he plays with his toys. When it is time for a nap, he gets very snuggly.

Currently in a foster home. Since Milo is not neutered yet, we are restricting his adoption area to within 30 miles of Columbus.

Luna

Luna

Breed: Catahoula Leopard Dog
Sex: Female, spayed
Estimated Birth Date: February 2016
Size: 45 pounds but she needs to put a little weight on. This shouldn’t be a problem; she is VERY food motivated
Good With Kids: Yes but since she is a little timid, children must be over the age of 10
Good With Other Dogs: Yes
Good With Cats: Yes
Housetrained: Yes
Crate Trained: Yes

Recommended Environment: Luna needs a home where she can comfortably acclimate in her own time. Loud noises and sudden movements startle her so she will do better in a calm and quiet home with patient people. She likes having a canine companion so a home with another dog would be best. She loves going on walks and is good on a leash.

Additional Information: Microchipped. Luna is a bit timid and takes a little while to warm up to her people. She isn’t afraid to let you know when she wants more attention; she will put her paw on your arm for more petting. She also gets up on her hind legs to give hugs. She likes to spend time in a dry empty bathtub. We haven’t figured that one out yet!
Currently in a foster home. We are accepting applications within 30 miles of Columbus, Ohio.

Mercury

Mercury

Breed: Mountain Cur
Sex: Male, neutered
Estimated Birth Date: October 2020
Size: Currently 25 pounds but estimated to be 45-50 pounds when full grown
Good With Kids: Yes, but we will only place with children 4 and older. He is energetic and may knock down toddlers
Good With Cats: Yes
Good With Other Dogs: Yes
Housetrained: In progress. He is starting to alert his foster when he needs to go out
Crate trained: Yes. He sleeps in it at night but will bark during the day if he hears people in the house

Recommended Environment: He will need plenty of exercise and attention. Since he is a bigger boy with lots of energy, we feel he would do best in a home with children over the age of 4. Since he is still young, he will need work with basic commands and leash training.

Additional Information: Mercury (or Moose, as his foster is calling him) is a typical puppy with spurts of energy and snuggles in between. He is intelligent and praise and treat motivated so training should be easy. He is currently in a foster home with children, a cat, and another dog. He is shy about meeting new people but warms up quickly. Since he is not fully vaccinated yet, we prefer to place him in the Columbus, Ohio area so that we may complete his veterinary care.
