Gallery Hop – October 6

ADOPT’s next fundraiser will be during the October 6th Gallery Hop. You can find us from 6-10pm at the Elemental Veterinary Center and Pet Spa, 1250 North High Street, Columbus. Free parking can be found in the parking lot behind the vet’s office. It is shaping up to be a really fun event and we’d love to see you there. Kittie’s Cakes will be there with their cupcakes (available to guests for a donation to ADOPT). Some of our current foster dogs will be in attendance so that they can find loving forever homes.

If you’re interested in helping out for the fundraiser feel free to leave a comment or submit a Volunteer Application so we can get in touch with you! 🙂 We’re looking for donations for a silent auction, folks to hold dogs and anyone with a great attitude who can help in any way.

* Age: 9 weeks

Sugar Cube (named because she is a lump of sweetness!) is a Chihuahua/Pekingnese mix, born approximately early July. She is learning the ropes of being a well behaved pup and loves as much attention as she can get! She is currently in a foster home with children and other dogs and does well with both. If you would like to meet Sugar, please fill out an online application. Because of her young age, she will need to have booster shots and her spay surgery done locally and we will only accept Columbus and close vicinity applicants. Also, we prefer a situation with someone home during the day in order to properly socialize and care for this tiny girl.

Louie

Louie is an adorable Poodle mix (perhaps Dachshund, he’s long and has those sweet Doxy eyes!) He’s estimated between 2-3 years old, weighs about 15 lbs and came to us from a kill shelter in rural Ohio. Louie is new to our program, but we know that he’s wonderful with people and loves affection. He has not been cat tested, appears to do will with other dogs, and the rest we are learning! Ruby

* Sex: Female

* Age: 9 mos to 1 yr

Ruby is a stunning Collie/Shepherd mix who is approximately 9 months to a year old. She comes from a rural Ohio kill shelter where she was a staff favorite but frightened by all of the chaos in the kennel. Ruby is very bright, learns extremely fast, and is housebroken. Because of her tall build and the fact that she still has puppy behaviors (jumping up when excited) we feel that she is best suited for a home with children age 6 or older. Ruby is crated when her foster family is not home (because she’s young, she still needs to chew!) but goes willingly into her crate. She responds best to positive reinforcement due to her sensitive (Shepherd) nature. Ruby will notify you if someone comes to your door, loves to fetch and is friendly toward everyone. She is agile and has a lot of energy, so regular exercise is required. She is not comfortable getting into a car but is being taught that it is safe and not a bad thing! She has not been tested with cats but given the nature of her breed mixture it is not recommended.

Buttercup

Meet Buttercup. She has to be one of the happiest little dogs you could ever meet! She will even give you a “smile” now and again. When she first came to us she was a little scared of men but has grown to trust them as soon as they talk to her. She loves to be next to you and gives kisses all the time! She adores kids! She follwed a 1yr old who visited her everywhere! She loves other dogs too. She has a Pommie and German Shepherd friend at her foster home. She and the Pommie can play for hours. The German Shepherd is older and she has learned to respect him and not bother him unless he wants to play. She even plays with the cats…when they let her that is. She is housetrained and knows sit, down and stay (most of the time). She enjoys being outside so if you like to do things in the yard or go to the park she would love to do that with you. She keeps trying to catch the deer in her foster home’s backyard but so far no luck with that. She does chase them back over the fence and away from the garden…what a little helper she is! All around a great happy little girl who gets along with everyone….won’t you let her bring a little joy into your home?

Kelsey

Bella

Bella is an absolutely precious Maltese/Dachshund mix born approximately April 2012. This pint size cutie currently weighs 5 lbs and will remain small. She had a tough beginning having been neglected and near death when she arrived at a pound in southern Ohio. She has been given lots of TLC and gained weight since coming to ADOPT. Bella loves everyone that she meets and currently lives with children and multiple dogs, doing wonderfully with all. She is bright and learns quickly. Bella is making great strides with housebreaking, uses a dog door and is completely crate trained. If you would like to meet this gorgeous pup, please fill out an online application.

Rachel

Rachel is an adorable Beagle mix looking for a good home. She was pulled from a rural shelter in Ohio where she was the office greeter and a favorite. Rachel is about 3 years and just under 35 lbs. She loves to play with her foster sister and brother. She is extremely affectionate and loves all people. Nylabones are her favorite chew toys. Rachel is a typical Beagle mix and loves to watch/chase birds, squirrels, and anything small that moves. For that reason, Rachel would do best in a home without cats. Rachel is a talented athlete and would make a great agility dog. She would do best in a home with a privacy fence (she is quite the jumper) or with someone who is looking for a walking buddy. Bacon Bit

This off the charts adorable All-American girl (mom is a white Maltese, and dad’s DNA is a mystery – likely a terrier with a sprinkle of Dachshund) came to us with very few details but we are learning quickly that she loves people, big and small, and is a pure love bug. This half pint sweetie is big on personality and snuggles. She was born approximately April 2012 and came to us with her mom as part of a neglect case. She seems unaffected by her rough beginning and genuinely loves everyone that she meets. Her name may seem odd, but it fits her perfectly. Why “Bacon” you ask? Well, who doesn’t love Bacon?? Oh so true!

B.B. is new to her foster home but she is settling in nicely and reminding us just how silly and sweet puppies are. She is sure to grow into an beautiful girl that will excitingly share in many happy and fun moments with any family, be that one person or eight.

Sophie

Sophie is an adorable, loveable 9-pound Maltese mix who is approximately 1.5 years old. She came to us from a kill shelter in Southern Ohio and was part of a neglect situation. She is house and crate trained and gets along great with other dogs. Sophie is quiet and timid at first but warms up quickly and loves sitting on your lap and being pampered. You will fall in love with this cutie as soon as you meet her. She will be great companion dog, but probably not for kids who want a dog to run and play with. If you are looking for a loving dog to share your heart and home with, Sophie is the girl for you.
