Cody

Cody

Cody is a Yellow Lab (mix?) who came from a rural kill shelter. He is a young, energetic, smart and typical Lab pup. Cody will be entering the prison program on 8/19 to learn his basic commands and how to walk nicely on a leash. He is a people pleaser and learns very quickly. Cody is very friendly, loves people, kids and other dogs. He will do well in a home that commits to daily exercise and activity. He is a lovely guy with loads of personality and heart. If you would like to meet him, please fill out an online application.

Leo

Leo

This is Leo! He is approximately 1.5 yrs old and was an owner surrender to a kill shelter in West Virginia. After arriving in Columbus, Leo showed significant signs of reactive fear aggression. A.D.O.P.T. didn’t have the heart to send him back to the original shelter where he would’ve been immediately euthanized. Fortunately a wonderful trainer by the name of Daniel Carter with ColumbusDogTrainers.com (who has trained some past adoptables of ours) stepped up to help Leo. Daniel has been extremely pleased with his progress and has even posted several videos. Please see the link of Leo’s video progress from Daniel Carter at ColumbusDogTrainers.com. Because of Daniel’s patience and expertise, Leo was saved. It’s not over yet, however, because Leo still needs his forever home. He is currently staying with a wonderful foster who loves him and continues to work on the obedience and training that Daniel began. Leo will need a home that can be attentive to his special needs and be diligent about pursuing his continued success. No homes with small children would be considered at this time. Leo gets along with other dogs, cats and people in general. He is very affectionate and just needs consistency and stability. Daniel Carter has offered his services at no charge to Leo’s adopter for a 3 hour training session. We believe Leo was worth saving and hope the right home is just waiting for his arrival!

Duncan

Duncan

Oh Duncan…he definitely tugs at the heartstrings. This handsome Collie mix came from a severe hoarding situation. He is trying to be so brave and desperately needs some TLC. He has just entered into our canine/inmate program where we will get to know him better. He has a quiet, submissive disposition and just drops to the ground if frightened by something. He is already coming out of his shell and loves to snuggle into tights spots, including your lap! As he reveals himself more to us, we will update his biography. Currently we believe Duncan would do well in a quiet household that is looking for a companion dog and someone to cuddle up with. He is gentle, not aggressive, and timid. He also has the cutest overbite we’ve ever seen! His top teeth stick out over his bottom teeth and it’s ridiculously cute. If you think you are looking for a loving little guy like Duncan and can provide him with the forever home he needs, please fill out an online application.

Sammy

Sammy

This handsome Labradoodle is a year and a half old and in need of some love. He was surrendered by his family to A.D.O.P.T. because he needed testing for allergies. Sammy arrived with patchy areas of skin irritation and is on hypoallergenic food…we feel that many of his skin issues were due to stress in his former home. He is warming up to men but was very frightened by them at first. He goes into his crate and is quiet throughout the day. He gets along with his canine foster brothers, although has no idea how to play (which they will teach him!) He doesn’t mind the cat but would probably like to chase her if she gave him the chance. Sammy is coming out of his shell and is a “velcro dog”, meaning he likes to be near hiis humans. He is bright and learning that people can be kind and loving. He knows sit, down, walks on a leash and is working on other polite behaviors (still likes to jump up when he sees you.) We are keeping him on a hypoallergenic food to see if he has less irritation with his skin. We will do testing for allergies if needed, but at this point he is doing well. Sammy would thrive in a non-chaotic home that has the time and patience to contiue showing him some TLC. He is extremely sweet and deserves so much better than he has had. Sammy would thrive in a quiet home that has the time and patience to show him kindness. If you would like to meet Sammy, please fill out an online application.

Tod

Tod

Tod is an adorable Shepherd mix, most likely about a year old. He was found as a stray before joining our rescue and we are still getting to know him. Tod has just joined our canine/inmate program and will work on basic obedience, leash walking and good puppy manners! He’s a great size and would do well with an active person or family. He likes other dogs and has a friendly disposition. If you would like to meet Tod, please fill out an online application.

Shelly

Shelly

Shelly is amazing! This beautiful Yellow Lab mix is as sweet as she is pretty. She is an extremely fast learner and hasn’t met anyone that she doesn’t love. She’s friendly, good with kids, dogs, and even rides nicely in a car. Shelly would make a fantastic companion for any home. She is young and has some of the typical Lab energy but is not hyper. She loves to play and go for walks, but is also a snuggler. She is working on not jumping when meeting someone new…but she just gets so happy!! If you would like to meet this special girl, please fill out an online application.
