Duncan

Duncan

Duncan is believed to be a Sheltie mix. He came from an extreme hoarding situation and was one of approximately 40 dogs. Duncan is very timid but not aggressive in any way…just scared. He would do best in a quiet household where he can decompress and be a loving pet. He is housebroken, loves being in his crate, and currently is fostered with a cat. He will require a patience and TLC. We have seen dogs emerge from their fears and become loyal and wonderful companions, some of them just need more time to get there. If you have room in your heart and home for this worthwhile boy, please fill out an online application to meet him.

Connor

Connor

Connor is an incredibly sweet young lab mix who is new to our program. He is about a year old and just loves everyone he’s met so far. He loves to cuddle but would be a great jogging partner too since he still has just the right amount of puppy energy. He has entered our canine/inmate program to learn his manners and refine his housetraining in order to become the perfect gentleman.  If you’d like to meet this adorable boy, please fill out an online application.

Sadie

Sadie

Sadie is a stunning St. Bernard who arrived at a kill shelter as a stray. We were asked to take her into rescue and gladly did! Sadie was severely malnourished and had hair loss across her backside from flea dermatitis. She is being treated and her skin has greatly improved. We expect the hair to fully grow in. Because of her history of starvation, Sadie has resource guarding issues and is territorial with other canines. She gets along well with other dogs (to play with, to walk, to hang out with) but needs to be the only pet in the home because of her food/resource issues. She is extremely affectionate and bonds quickly with her people. She will alert to new sounds or people on her property. The ideal home for Sadie is one that is not chaotic, no small children, and no other pets. She is not destructive, rides well in a car, is housebroken and knows a few commands. In the right environment Sadie can thrive and be an amazing companion. Please fill out an online application to be considered for Sadie’s forever home.

Roscoe

Roscoe

Roscoe is a Beagle mix who is a great size, about 40 lbs, and has a sweet disposition. True to his breed mix, he loves to explore the outdoors and discover as many scents as he can. He’s affectionate, goofy, and loves to play. Roscoe likes everyone he meets and would love to find a family of his own. He has been part of our canine inmate/program where he has worked on basic commands and leash walking. If you’d like to meet this adorable boy, please fill out an online application!

Merlin

Merlin

Merlin is a beautiful brindle Mastiff mix. He was in a rural W. Va. kill shelter with his mom and sister where they were dumped. He has shown a quiet temperament, doesn’t mind other dogs, and is slightly shy. Not fearful, just takes in his environment and gets used to things. He’s affectionate and gentle, knows his basic commands, and seems to love being around kids and other dogs. Please fill out an online application if you would like to meet him.

Winston (formerly Sammy)

ADOPT recently received an update on Winston (formerly Sammy) from his forever family!  We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!! 🙂

Just thought I would send you an update! First, we changed Sammy’s name to Winston. It was just tough calling him Sammy after we lost our Sammy in October. He has done great with it. We have kept him on Salmon and sweet potato food and have his allergies under control. He gets a few spots every now and then but they don’t get bad and then clear up. He has gotten a lot of his hair back. He is very happy and lovable! We love him so much!!!!

Birdie is doing great but refuses to have her picture take! Below is a picture from her first Christmas.

Paisley

Paisley

Paisley is an adorable Spitz mix weighing 15 lbs. She was an owner surrender and has been well cared for her entire life. Paisley is a beautiful petite girl who loves car rides and walks. She has lived with a cat and did fine with that as well. She likes most other dogs but can be choosy about her canine pals. She does not like being left alone for long periods and can be territorial in her crate. She is shy at first but will warm up over time. She would do well in a home with someone there most of the time and has a non-chaotic environment. Paisley has joined our canine/inmate program and is learning more of her commands!

Tessa

Tessa

Tessa is a happy-go-lucky 1.5 year old female Yellow Lab. She adores everyone she meets (especially if you scratch her back end!) and is always “smiling.” Tessa was found as a stray in a rural county and ended up at a kill shelter. She is currently in a foster home and doing great. Tessa is housebroken, fine on a lead, and affectionate towards all. She LOVES her toys and attention of any kind. This beautiful girl will make a wonderful companion to any home. She is about 15 lbs overweight right now and needs diet & exercise. If you would like to meet Tessa, please fill out an online application.
