Brio

Brio

Brio is an amazing, smart, affectionate and gorgeous German Shepherd/Border Collie mix! She is the best of both worlds…she is active and energetic, loves to play but also is a cuddler and craves being with her people. She does great with other dogs (preferably ones that also like to play) and will be a wonderful addition to any family or active person. She was found as a stray after having been attacked by another animal. She had a few puncture wounds which have healed nicely and her spirit is bright! She is entering into our canine/inmate program where she will be exposed to all of her obedience skills. Brio’s name means confident and vivacious, which suits her personality. If you would like to meet beautiful Brio, please fill out an application online.

Brutus

Brutus

What can we say about Brutus? He is one of those dogs that you just have to see in person. He’s a true Heinz 57 mix of breeds which we feel has turned out one of the ugliest cute dogs ever!! He’s low to the ground like a Corgi, has a Boston Terrier’s head, and the coat of a wire haired Dachshund. He is Mr. Happy and loves people. He will greet you enthusiastically, allow himself to be carried like a toddler, and truly just wants to love and be loved. Brutus has so much personality and character and will be a wonderful companion. He does well with other dogs, will chase cats if given the chance (but just to get them to play) and is an all around great little dog. He is happy-go-lucky and will be a wonderful companion. To meet Brutus, please fill out an online application.

Peanut

Peanut

Get your Peanut here!! This all American Applehead Chihuahua is the sweetest boy! He originally came from a breeder that decided he wasn’t show quality, was adopted by people that didn’t have enough time, and now he’s with us! He’s a joy to have around, does well in his crate (loves it, actually) and is housebroken. We will only place Peanut in a home with other small canine friends or with someone who can be home during the day. Peanut really loves kids and other dogs, so we want him to have one or both of those things in his forever home. He’s timid at first but warms up right away. Peanut loves to curl up and snuggle but is just as content in his crate taking a little nap. He’s a great little guy and so deserving of a family of his own. If you’d like to meet Peanut, please fill out an online application.

Rosey

Rosey

Rosy is a beautiful 3 yr old Lab/Greyhound mix who came to us as an owner surrender. The family was no longer able to care for her due to extended work hours which left her alone/crated for long periods of time. She is very sweet and gets along well with kids and with other dogs. We were told Rosy gets anxious during storms but is not destructive and otherwise is easy going. She is crate trained, housebroken, loves toys (especially tennis balls) and is an affectionate girl. She is very well behaved, is not a barker, and doesn’t even get up on the furniture. She has shown no possessiveness over food or toys. If someone is not with her during the day we would like Rosy to have a canine companion to bond with since she genuinely enjoys other dogs. If you are interested in meeting this lovely girl, please fill out an online application.

Stella

Stella

Talk about too cute…that’s definitely Stella! She is a perfect size, about 40 lbs, and is a Black Lab mix. She has all of the wonderful characteristics of Labs; she’s playful, affectionate, funny, and smart. Stella is a shrunken down version of a full sized Lab! She has joined our prison program where she will continue building on the commands she knows. She is genuinely a sweet dog that would do well in a home that continues to provide exercise and love, that’s really all she wants! She enjoys being around people and will be a great companion. Please fill out an online application if you would like to meet Stella.

Atlas

ADOPT recently received an update on one of Faye’s puppies, Atlas, from his forever family! We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!! 🙂

I just wanted to give you an update on the puppy (Atlas) that we adopted back in October (he was one of Faye’s puppies). He is doing great (about 65 lbs now)! He is fully house trained, loves running and playing outside with other dogs, and went swimming last weekend for the first time! He is extremely social and loves every person and dog he meets. (He even has a cat friend that he plays with outside in our courtyard!) Here are some pictures of him!

Fletcher

Fletcher

Black dogs are often overlooked…probably because they don’t photograph well! Fletcher is an extremely handsome Black Lab mix who, like so many Labs, loves to play ball. He came from a rural Kentucky shelter that doesn’t get much help, so we were happy to bring him into the program. He is currently doing well in the prison program learning his commands and socializing. Fletcher loves to play, does well with other dogs, and loves water! Fletcher would do well in an active household where he can continue to do the things he loves. A fenced yard is preferred but not required, as long as he is able to go for walks/runs/ and play fetch! If you would like to meet this good looking and friendly boy, please fill out an online application.

Nikita

Nikita

Nikita is a beautiful German Shepherd mix who came to us from a rural Kentucky shelter. She is currently in a foster home with 3 large male dogs and is getting along great. We were told that she does not do well with small dogs and typically prefers male dogs. If there are other dogs in the household proper introductions would need to be done. Nikita is friendly, affectionate and smart. She loves her play time, exploring, and taking walks. She truly just wants to be close to her person or people. If you would like to meet Nikita, please fill out an online application. We prefer a fenced yard in her new home.

Charlie

Charlie

Charlie came to us as an owner surrender when they realized that puppies are a lot of work! We say this because even though they are adorable they require lots of time and patience! This little guy is a Chihuahua mix who probably won’t be more than 15-20 lbs full grown. He is currently having a blast in our prison program playing with the big dogs and learning some basic manners! Because he’s so young we would love to see him in a home with another canine playmate or someone who is home (or able to come home during the day) to continue his training and socialization. If you would like to meet Charlie, please fill out an online application.

Jessie

ADOPT received an update on Jessie from her new home! We hope you enjoy it as much as we did!! 🙂

I wanted to give you an update on Jessie.  Several weeks ago she began having problems with her right hip.  It basically was out of what little socket she had developed.  We opted to have surgery to permanently repair this.  An FHO procedure was performed on Jessie on April 11th.  I’m happy to report Jessie came through with flying colors!  She is a warrior girl!  The first few days home were difficult though.  We went for our post surgery check up  yesterday and the doctor is very pleased with her progress.  She can walk without assistance and this morning she went on her first off leash exploration.  The next step in her recovery is physical therapy.  On April 20th we are taking Jessie to Pawsitive Steps for some intense physical therapy.  They do things such as under water treadmill walking, acupuncture, chiropractic adjustments, massage, and laser therapy treatments.  Nothing but the best for our warrior!  She’s put on some weight since being with us so she is now on a prescription kibble and has lost a few pounds already. Attached are recent pictures of Sassy Pants, one of the many names we call her.
