Waylon

Waylon

This young man arrived with his two sisters from a rural kill shelter in Kentucky. He is a Lab/hound (Bloodhound, perhaps?) mix and loves to find all the new scents on the ground! He loves being around children and is a snuggler as well. Waylon can sometimes be timid if he is startled by a new loud noise but we would not consider him “fearful.” He is a typical, gangly, goofy puppy who will need continued guidance, socialization and training (as they all do) in order to be a well balanced and happy dog. If you would like to meet Waylon, please fill out an online application!

Guinness

Guinness

Guinness is a Lab mix (most likely with Black and Tan hound) who joined our rescue after facing euthanasia (due to overcrowding) in a southern kill shelter. He is just too wonderful of a dog to meet this fate. He’s a nice medium size, only about 35 lbs, and is a wonderful little buddy. With proper introductions Guinness is ok with other male dogs but it takes him a bit to get used to them. He is fine with female dogs. Guinness is currently in the prison program where he has learned his basic commands. He is a fairly laid back boy and would love to get his belly rubbed all day long! If you are looking for a nice sized companion who is past all the puppy crazies, this is your guy. To meet Guinness, please fill out an online application.

Banjo

Banjo

Banjo is a unique looking Terrier mix. We’re not sure what else is floating around in his DNA, but whatever it is it’s cute! His coat looks like it would be wiry but it’s actually very soft, almost like wispy Poodle hair. We are still getting to know him, but he’s been very sweet towards everyone he meets. He seems to like to have other dogs or people around and doesn’t like to be alone for long periods. Banjo, like many terriers, is very bright and will make a faithful companion. He would do best in a home where he has companionship and the opportunity to exercise to sniff out everything that he possibly can! Please fill out an online application if you would like to meet this unique little guy.

Penny

Penny

Penny is a beautiful Brittany Spaniel. We don’t know if she’s mixed with anything but if she is, her dominant breed is definitely the spaniel. This breed is typically affectionate and independent at the same time. They do well with a routine, mental and physical exercise, and a firm but calm ‘leader.’ Penny was slightly timid when she first arrived but warmed up quickly. She was underweight and matted at first, but with continued brushing and a couple of good baths her coat is looking much better and is very silky. She will be a very loyal and dedicated companion with her new forever family. If you think she’d be a good match and you’d like to meet her, please fill out an online application.

Bernadette

Bernadette

Sweet Bernadette! Everyone who meets her is smitten with her kind nature and affectionate disposition. We were even more amazed when we saw that she had a stick wedged across the roof of her mouth. It had been there so long that it actually went through her gums and protruded far enough to rub against the inside of her cheeks. Its unthinkable to imagine her pain and yet she remained completely loving. We believe this is a large part of the reason she’s so thin…now that the stick has been surgically removed she can begin healing and eating properly. Bernadette is very “grateful” to be rescued and wants to snuggle and be close by to her people. She’s being exposed to basic commands in our prison program but would love to have her own forever home. If you’d like to meet little miss Bernadette, please fill out an online application.

Amy

Amy

It’s hard to get a good picture of Amy because she wants to get as close to you as she can and wiggle around! Amy is actually pretty calm for a young Lab/Boxer mix, she’s very affectionate and has the goofy Boxer facial expressions! She is part of the canine/inmate program and is learning her basic commands. Amy gets along with other dogs and is an overall sweetheart. If you would like to meet this happy girl, please fill out an online application.

Baron (formerly Chaz)

ADOPT received another update on Baron (formerly Chaz) from his forever family! We hope you enjoy this update as much as we did!! 🙂

Just a little update on Baron: He’s doing super well! Just had his checkup and vaccines in October and he is in excellent health! He loves playing tug and chasing his “sister” around the house and yard as well as terrorizing and birds or squirrels in his sight 🙂 He’s my big cuddle baby and loves to be right next to me as often as he can…. including sitting on my feet while I do dishes! He’s also been going to doggie daycare about once a week at Metro city Doggie and he is so so soooo loved there! He gets so excited when I ask him if he wants to go see Miss Dena at daycare! I’ve attached a few pictures as well. 🙂

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday!

Eevee

Eevee

Tiny Eevee is named after the precocious Pokemon character (they both have brown eyes, blonde fur, big ears and pink paw pads!) We believe that Eevee is a Chihuahua mix, possibly with Jack Russell Terrier. She was one of 5 littermates that were abandoned in West Virginia. Her brothers and sisters were adopted and Eevee came here to us. She is in a foster home where she is described as “perfect.” She’s mastered stair climbing, spending the night in her crate, and wearing herself out playing with toys as well as her canine foster brothers and the family cat. If you would like to meet this tiny dynamo, please fill out an online application. We are accepting Columbus area applicants only!! Eevee still needs booster vaccines and her spay surgery which will be done by one of our local veterinarians.

Hope

Hope

Sweet Hope arrived into rescue after someone tried to “dock” her tail by tying twine tightly around it, thinking it would fall off. It didn’t. Hope’s tail was badly infected from the attempt and we are working hard to save it. So far so good. Despite the neglect she has faced, the first thing she does is wag her battered tail when she meets someone. She is currently in a foster home with 4 other dogs and adjusting well. She’s never had an opportunity to “just be a dog.” Hope is gentle, sweet and somewhat reserved. She needs a home where she can receive lots of positive care and affection (she looooves to snuggle!) She loves her walks, car rides, being outdoors, and curling up near her person. We prefer a home with kids 8+ because we don’t know her history…however she is fine with everyone she has met. If you think that you are Hope’s special person or family, please fill out an online application.

General information: Wheezy is one of our longer term residents and would love to find her forever home. She’s not perfect for everyone, we know that, but she is perfect for someone. She has been residing with professional trainer Sam Short (dogsbysam.com.) Sam first started working with Wheezy because of her territory guarding tendencies and her selectivity with other canines. Any potential owner will need to be dog savvy and continue her positive reinforcement training techniques. Because of her territory protection, we will require a fenced in yard.
