Valerie

Valerie

When we first saw Valerie, we knew she was special. She didn’t have a name and was slated for euthanasia in the previous shelter. We knew there was so much more that she deserved…so she was given the name Valerie (which means strength, health, and boldness) and a new lease on life! Valerie has won over the hearts of everyone who has met her. She is sweet, affectionate, funny, and a total “lovebug.” She lives with her foster family which includes other large male dogs, a female dog, and cats. Valerie hasn’t met anyone that she doesn’t like. She will greet you with a Pittie smile and wagging tail. Right now her skin looks a little goofy because she is being treated for Demodex mange. It will completely heal and she will have a full, healthy coat. Valerie is well behaved and will be a most grateful companion. If you would like to meet her, please fill out an online application.

Zeke

Zeke

This little sweetie was part of a litter dumped at a shelter. We think there’s some Lab, Beagle, and who knows what else in his ancestry. He loves to play, chew on sticks, and snuggle. He is a typical puppy that will require time, energy, proper socialization, training, and regular exercise. Puppies are a big commitment and not for the feint of heart!

Because of his young age and the need for booster shots plus his neuter surgery by our local veterinarian, we will only accept applications from Columbus and surrounding suburbs.

If you’re interested in meeting Zeke, please fill out an online application.

Estimated Birth Date: 2/16/2017
Weight: 6 pounds. We’re GUESSING 35-40 pounds when full grown.

Dash

Dash

Dash is a true “Heinz 57” with a ‘dash’ of everything mixed in! He’s a nice medium sized boy, gets along with other dogs and is very sweet. He’s not overly energetic but will play and enjoys attention. Dash has a former injury to his left eye which makes it appear “cloudy.” It does not cause him discomfort and he has vision in both eyes. Sometimes we like to have dogs that we know will get a lot of attention and find their homes quickly because that means we can rescue another dog from euthanasia. And then there are dogs like Dash who often sit for months in a shelter because they’re not flashy, they don’t grab your attention immediately, and they just sit quietly and wait. These dogs make wonderful companions when given the chance…so if you are looking for a loyal companion then come meet Dash. Please fill out an online application to see him for yourself.

Miki

Miki

“Miki” is a word in the Inuit language meaning “small.” This beautiful Husky girl is very petite at 20 lbs. She’s not quite a year old yet so she’ll get slightly larger, but not much. Miki has many of the typical husky traits…she is curious, vocal, and very friendly. These dogs are wonderful companions for the right owners! They are not sedentary animals and need daily physical exercise. They don’t do well or like to be left alone for long periods of time. People are taken in by their gorgeous eyes and thick coat, but remember that huskies have double coats and will shed. They are typically good with children but not recommended with cats (unless raised with from a young age.) If you’d like to meet this girl, please fill out an online application.

Tegan

Tegan

Tegan is a beautiful Border Collie that came to us from a kill shelter in rural Kentucky. She is timid at first but mostly of environmental things that are loud or unfamiliar to her. She loves people, and true to the Border Collie personality, she is a “velcro” dog (wants to be close to her person or people.) Borders are extremely intelligent and hard working. Their desire is to please their person and they are sensitive, affectionate, and extremely loyal. Tegan will need to have regular exercise and mental stimulation (whether thats learning new tricks or commands, playing with toys, or having a “job”.) She is a beautiful girl and will make a really terrific companion.

Adele

Adele

If it’s possible, her eyes are even more striking in person. Adele is as sweet and funny as she is gorgeous. This Husky mix is super friendly and affectionate. We’ve tried to get better pictures of her up close, but as soon as you move in she just wants to lick your face! We don’t know Adele’s history but she was probably loved at one point. She is not skittish and really enjoys being around people. She is good with other dogs but no cats. Huskies (and mixes) can be vocal when they play, require regular exercise and stimulation, and are moderate to heavy shedders. This girl is genuinely beautiful inside and out…if you’d like to meet Adele, please fill out an online application.

Nick

Nick

Nick is a really unique looking boy…very handsome! We think he’s got some Terrier, some Shepherd, a herding breed and who knows what else mixed in there! He loves people and would be a great family dog. He’s gentle with humans but can be boisterous when playing with other dogs (he prefers little dogs to ones larger than he is.)
He has adapted quickly to crate training and will just walk in to lay down. Nick is a “velcro dog” which is typical of the herding breeds…he loves to know where his humans are and will follow you around. He is very active and would be a great running partner or could get his exercise by playing fetch (for hours if you let him!) He brings his toy back and is gently returns it to you, such a good boy! Nick will notify you if someone is at your door or walking close by your home, so keep that in mind if you have thin walls with neighbors! Nick is a well rounded, energetic, affectionate boy who will be a great companion. Please fill out an online application to meet him!

Gracie

Gracie

This stunning Great Pyrenees/Lab mix is Gracie. She has been loved and cared for by a family but had to be surrendered through no fault of her own. She has many of the Great Pyr traits; she is a devoted companion, wary of strangers on her turf (but welcoming once she knows that the person is permitted to be there), affectionate on her terms and sometimes stubborn. She will bark and alert when someone is at the door or nearing her property. Because of her breed mix, we prefer that Gracie’s new home has ample space for her to play outside (or a large fenced yard) and that her new person(s) have large breed or Great Pyr experience. We know this sounds very specific but we are committed to finding the best match possible! She does well with other dogs, can be boisterous when she plays, and is very intelligent. If you think that you would be a good match, please fill out an online application.

Lola

Lola

Lola is actually beautiful. We know, her pictures might look like she’s not the fairest in the land, but she will be. Lola is getting over Demodex mange and has responded wonderfully to treatment. It takes a little time for the hair to come back and the eyes not to be red rimmed. She is one of the sweetest girls you’ll ever meet…timid at first but as soon as she understands that you’re a “friend” she will shower you with kisses. We don’t know her history, but we presume that at some point someone wasn’t very nice to her. Lola, on the other hand, doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. She will require someone who can see past the patchiness of her coat, see past her initial timidness, and appreciate the fact that when she lets you in that she will love you with her whole heart. To meet this special girl, please fill out an online application.

Henry

Henry

Handsome Henry is such a squeezable love! Henry came to us after he’d been left behind…a good samaritan took him in and then contacted us. We are so very happy to have him and have promised to find him a wonderful forever home. Henry is friendly, sweet, and gentle. He has gotten along with the other dogs in the program and not had an issue with anyone he meets. Henry has a little extra insulation around the middle so he could lose a couple of pounds…but hey…winter does that! If you would like to introduce yourself to Henry to see if you’d be a good match, please fill out an online application.
