Peanut Peanut

* Animal: Dog
* Breed: Great Dane
* Sex: Female
* Age: 2 years

Hello!! My name is Peanut and I am a 2-year old Great Dane. I like to get belly rubs, ear scratches, play with other dogs and treats!! I am told that I am small for my breed and age, but I think I am the perfect size for a lap dog. I have mega-esophagus (http://www.caninemegaesophagus.org/), which means that my esophagus doesn’t work as it should and cannot transport food to my stomach. Pretty much, food can sit in my throat until I regurgitate it, boo. Anyway, my first family, that had me since I was a puppy did not know why I was throwing up all the time so they kept me in a crate or put me outside. Eventually, I got sick enough that they brought me to the vet to have me put to sleep. But the nice people at Westerville VCA took one look at me and said ‘no way’. So they asked my owners to give me over to their care. Once they figured out that I had mega-esophagus, they were able to help me keep my food down and start gaining weight! Now, thanks to the nice people at Westerville, I live with a foster family. They built me a feeding stand so that I can eat standing up, which helps the food slide right down my throat and into my stomach. They also got me a slo-feed bowl. I don’t like that part too much because it takes soooo long to eat, but apparently, that is a good thing and it helps keep the food down. I also take a pill 30 minutes prior to eating, called a pro-motility drug, whatever that means. Anyway, the vet says that my condition is congenital and therefore doesn’t indicate a bigger issue. They also say that with my feeding stand and medicine, I will live a pretty normal life, sounds good to me! Anyway, if you are looking for a loving dog that is crate trained (almost house trained, but nights can sometimes be too long) and loves other dogs and kids and people, I am your girl. I know how to sit, stay and ‘go lay down’, I know my name and I come when you whistle (unless there is something important that needs investigation). I still jump up, but I am learning to stop. It’s hard though, I need to get close for kisses!!

Duke

  • Animal: Dog
  • Breed: Sharpei/Hound
  • Sex:Male
  • Age:2 years

Duke was born to a breeder who couldn’t sell him because he was deaf. They let him roam the neighborhood until one of the neighbors (who happens to be the daughter of my neighbor) took him in. Then he eventually made his way to me to be fostered. We are looking to find him his forever home. He needs a yard that is fenced in for his safety. We have begun crate training and the only accident he has had was when he was in the same room as my male dog and they played “turf wars”.  He has a lot of energy but also can be quite lazy. He learns quickly and is eager to please. He does enjoy chewing so he’ll need plenty of chew toys.  Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to meet Duke.

Other biographical information:

Two years old
Male
Completely deaf (special needs)
Shar pei/Hound Mix

I am attaching the flyer that was sent with the request for the cross post–I can’t get the picture off of there, so I’m hoping that you computer gurus will be able to.  If you can’t, let me know and I can email the lady and see if I can get an actual picture of him.  He is a cutie!!!

  • Age:              7 years old
  • Size:              Medium (60 lbs)

Hi!  I’m Nick!  I was rescued on that crazy 4th of July weekend running around a neighborhood just across the Cincinnati border in Kentucky.  I’m a very smart dog and know sit, down, and stay.  I am housebroken, and am a great apartment dog.  I’m outgoing and love attention.  I’ve seen a couple cats and think they would be awfully fun to chase.  I can be a little stubborn, but with positive reinforcement I’m very willing to learn new things. I love going for car rides and walks and don’t even pull on my leash. I am very vocal so I might sound scary at first but I am just trying to talk to you.  I am very protective of my owners and don’t let strangers too close. I love standing at the window and keeping watch over the neighborhood. Unfortunately I still am a little worried that I will be back on the streets so I try to eat all the food I can get to (Including opening up refrigerators and jumping on counters). I am very crazy about human food so KEEP IT AWAY! I am an attention hog and love being pet and played with.

  • Animal: Dog
  • Breed: Boxer, Mastiff[Mix]
  • Sex: Female
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Large

Check out Winnie Brown’s picture with OSU Basketball Coach Matta. She’s ready to join the team.

Very sweet and loving girl. She had a very hard life before coming into rescue. What this means is that it takes a long time for her to trust ANYONE, especially men. As a “special needs” pet, Winnie needs someone who will be patient and help her recover from a very scary past. She is missing an eye, pieces of her tongue, and has small scars on her body. Although not aggressive with people, Winnie has been known to jump fences and is a great escape artist. Nonetheless, Winnie is a very beautiful girl who is looking for her forever home. Can you help her find it?

  • Animal: Dog
  • Breed: Beagle, Terrier[Mix]
  • Sex: Male
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Small

Not Suitable for small children. Snoopy formally known as Cashew is the sweetest little beagle. An Snoopy sits him as he always has to know what is going on and will investigate what you are doing. He is housebroken, doesn’t bark except when someone comes to the door, loves snooping outside just as he should. The thing he likes most is sleeping in bed with you and he usually finds the warmest spot. When crated the first night, he was not a happy camper, but he really does not need to be crated. He is eating well with dry dog food and dog treats but is quite the beggar from the table. Cashew appears to be off to a wonderful start to his new life in foster care and is looking forward to a new adopted life. Could that new life be with you? (No kids under 12 please).This pet is up to date with routine shots. This pet is already house trained.

Update:
Snoopy has made great progress!
Snoopy is one loving pup!  He loves to follow his foster family around and is happy to just snuggle right into bed or onto a lap!  Snoopy is housetrained and knows sit and stay.  He also knows to leave the kitchen with just a hand command!  Snoopy does not beg at the table, but is more than happy to get the leftovers if you offer them to him.  Snoopy is still not a big fan of his crate, but his foster family reports that he can usually be trusted to be left out of it anyway.
Please consider giving Snoopy the forever home that he deserves!
